Empowering Future Technologies: The Crucial Role of High-Quality Quartz in Advancing Industries
Quartz provides a high purity level of SiO2 as well as desirable mechanical, electrical, thermal, chemical and optical properties that make it ideal for a variety of demanding applications across a number of areas, including general industrial, scientific/lab, lighting and heating, controls and sensors, medical devices, aerospace and more.
OMCIL has been catering to the requirement of following industries with respect to Quartz:
- Semi Conductor & Solar Industries
- Crucible Making Industry
- Optical Fibre & Lighting Industries

Semiconductor
From computers to communication devices and home appliances, semiconductors are an indispensable part of our daily lives. The demand for semiconductors, which has been unbroken for decades, is still rapidly increasing. Quartz is a material that is highly prized in the semiconductor industry for its thermal stability, chemical resistance, and high-purity nature. These properties make quartz an ideal material for use in the fabrication of various components in the semiconductor industry.
Our high-quality quartz is used for the manufacture of fused quartz crucibles used in the Czochralski (CZ) process, and the production of fused quartz tubing and ingots used to create fabricated quartzware for the semiconductor wafer process. Only the finest quartz is employed in crucible production to avoid contamination to the silicon melt. Any impurities present during the manufacturing process will disrupt the monocrystalline structure of the ingot and degrade the functioning of the chip, potentially impacting the safety, efficiency, and cost effectiveness of the final product. With a purity of >99.999% SiO2, our quartz remains reliable even at temperatures as high as ~1,500ºC, safeguarding the integrity of the silicon melt.
Photovoltaic (Solar) Cell Manufacturing
As the cost of solar is decreasing and efficiency continues to rise, solar becomes increasingly viable worldwide. The most economical option for meeting the steady rise in quality requirements in the solar industry is highly pure quartz sand.
- Crucibles : The raw material used in the solar cell industry to produce crucibles is high purity quartz (HPQ) sand. Our high purity quartz sand is used to make crucibles for melting polysilicon, which is used to make solar panels.
- Glassware : Our HPQ is used to make glassware for solar applications.

Optical
Photovoltaic (Solar) Cell Manufacturing
In the world of lighting, the properties of quartz play a crucial role. Its remarkable characteristics, including a wide range of optical transmission and a high melting point, are key factors in the lighting industry’s success and innovation.
Our high purity quartz (HPQ) is extensively utilized in :
- Transparent Quartz Glass Tubes for high-temperature devices, suitable for applications like halogen or HID lamps
- Transparent Quartz Glass Tubes with additives of titanium dioxide, ideal for medical germicidal lamps.
- Transparent Quartz Glass Tubes with cerium additives designed to block ultraviolet radiation.
